At long last: the deeply nerdy card game for everyone who love chamber music and cards
Welcome to Get the Gig, a card game about chamber music, questionable decisions, and fierce competition.
In the game, players take on the role of various chamber music groups from different corners of the world. You’ll travel from venue to venue, compete for gigs, and survive (or not) unexpected events.
Each round begins with a Venue Reveal. Maybe you’re playing in a legendary concert hall, maybe it’s a crappy countryside library with folding chairs and weak coffee backstage. After the reveal, the lead player chooses two out of three categories that will shape the round.
Players then choose which Ensemble Card to play. Each ensemble has its own strengths and personality - some are technically brilliant, some have their business side going, some somehow still functioning despite years of internal disagreements and too much travel. Part of the game is learning when to play your strongest cards, when to hold back, and when to trust your instincts.
Along the way, Event Cards can change the mood very quickly. A glowing review, a broken health, artistic disagreements, unexpected opportunities - the usual things. Sometimes everything comes together beautifully. Sometimes it really doesn’t.
The game is competitive, but hopefully in the same way chamber music is competitive: everyone smiling warmly while quietly trying to outplay each other.
So shuffle the deck, gather your ensemble, and see if you have what it takes to get the gig.
